The people behind Little DOJO and its Big SPIRIT.

We have been learning, practicing and teaching Uechi-Ryu karate for numerous years.

We want to create an environment that fosters individual alongside team learning and growth.

We welcome you to our tribe.

  • Sensei Cat Mazzini has been training in martial arts for 17 years; initially in Goju Ryu Karate training under Master Steve Cartes at Sanchinkai in Tahmoor, achieving green belt rank in 2014.

    Cat then began training in Uechi Ryu Karate under Hanshi Arthur Moulas & Renshi Angela Moulas in 2015; then in Uechi Ryu Karate & Muay Thai with Kyoshi Nick Moulas, gaining Shodan in 2018 & Nidan in 2020.

    Cat has a background in early childhood, primary & additional needs education & has been teaching martial arts for 10 years; she has been developing her teaching philosophy over several decades.

    Cat believes that every student is capable, every student can learn; & that the skills of perseverance, resilience & dedication come with having the courage to take the risks to learn. Cat holds the sincere belief & lived experiences that studying martial arts changes our lives & our world in a positive way, this imbues every aspect of every day on the mats at Little Dojo.

    Cat appreciates the opportunity & privilege to help build a community of martial artists & their families; a community of people who are determined to strive for personal excellence, give service to others, foster fellowship & a accept the responsibility of working for the greater good.

  • Sensei Steven is a dedicated martial artist holding Dan ranks in multiple traditional systems. He currently practices and teaches Uechi Ryu Karate, Muay Thai, and Matayoshi Kobudo.

    With deep respect for martial arts values and a passion for personal growth, Steven is committed to guiding students on their own journeys—both in and out of the dojo.

    Little Dojo would not be the place it is, without our wonderful Sensei Steven.

  • Phil started training with Hanshi Arthur Moulas in the 1990’s when his children started classes in Tahmoor NSW. Phil’s enthusiasm for martial arts , in particular the traditional style of Uechi Ryu , continued with Phil achieving his Shodan in May 1999. Phil achieved his Nidan in Uechi Ryu Karate before commencing training in Kobudo (weapons) and achieving Shodan rank. Sensei Phil continues to train, and teach in both Uechi Ryu and Kobudo at Little Dojo .

    Sensei Phil’s approach to teaching is inclusive and encouraging, ensuring that every student feels valued and motivated to achieve their personal best.

  • Shihan Michelle Roberts has dedicated over 25 years to the art of Uechi Ryu Karate. Her journey began when her eldest child started kindergarten, and she sought to improve her fitness and make friendships. In May 2001, Michelle achieved her Shodan, a testament to her commitment and skill. She continued her training with Hanshi Arthur Moulas and other esteemed Uechi Ryu senseis and In November 2022, Michelle was honoured with the rank of Shihan (5th Dan), a significant achievement that places her among only four female Uechi masters in Australia.

    Michelle’s passion for martial arts extends beyond personal achievement. She continues to teach and train in both Uechi Ryu Karate and Kobudo at Little Dojo.

    Michelle’s philosophy embraces the lifelong journey of fitness, the forging of lasting friendships, and the sharing of knowledge. Her story is not just one of personal triumph but also an inspiration to all who seek the holistic benefits of martial arts, regardless of age.
